In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s clean-energy ambitions, Telangana-based firm Premier Energies will set up a INR 5,942-crore integrated solar‐manufacturing facility at Naidupeta Industrial Park in Nellore district

The announcement was made by Minister for IT Nara Lokesh on his official X handle, who described the project as a reflection of the State’s 'speed, clarity, and investor-first approach.'

According to Lokesh, discussions with Premier Energies began in October 2024, with the company seeking a location that could support deep upstream integration, from wafers and ingots to solar cells, aimed at strengthening India’s solar manufacturing value chain.

By February 2025, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) had expedited the allocation of 269 acres for the project, with 169.71 acres formally sanctioned and another 100 acres approved in principle. The rapid facilitation, supported by trunk infrastructure and port connectivity, helped Premier Energies consolidate operations at a single scalable site.

The upcoming complex will house a 4 GW TOPCon solar cell line and a 5 GW silicon ingot and wafer facility, marking one of India’s largest backward-integrated solar manufacturing hubs. The co-located setup is expected to streamline production, reduce logistics costs, and enhance competitiveness in both domestic and export markets.

The project is projected to generate around 3,500 direct jobs and thousands more indirectly through ancillary industries. A phased scale-up to 7 GW is also planned to meet growing demand for renewable energy solutions.

Highlighting the strategic location, Lokesh said Naidupeta offers reliable infrastructure, proximity to ports, and a skilled workforce,  making it ideal for high-value solar manufacturing. He emphasised that Andhra Pradesh’s port-led industrial strategy minimizes risk for large-scale projects while ensuring faster execution.

“The Premier Energies story in Andhra Pradesh is about speed with substance,” Lokesh said. “From day one, we aligned on integration, logistics, and timelines, and executed. This is how Andhra Pradesh will lead on clean energy manufacturing, by turning intent into assets, fast," he noted.

The state government is developing a renewable energy manufacturing corridor to strengthen India’s solar exports and attract investments in next-generation photovoltaic technologies. Lokesh reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to investor-friendly reforms, competitive incentives, and transparent facilitation to make Andhra Pradesh a preferred destination for green manufacturing.
