Pralhad Joshi to Inaugurate Windergy India 2026 in Chennai

Windergy India 2026 will focus on India’s wind energy growth and its target of 100 GW capacity by 2030.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, will officially inaugurate the 8th Edition of Windergy India on October 8, 2026, in Chennai. The event is set for three days.

The inauguration ceremony will be graced by national and state leaders. Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, will lead the inauguration, with. C. Joseph Vijay, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, expected to join the ceremony, alongside Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India, and C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, Minister for Energy Resources and Law, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

Also in attendance will be senior bureaucrats and industry icons, including Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE); Girish Tanti, Chairman, IWTMA & Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group; and Dr Saravanan Manickam, Vice Chairman, IWTMA & Country Head & MD-India, Nordex Group

The inauguration will also feature global MoU announcements and the launch of key sectoral reports, alongside recognition of states demonstrating leadership in the wind energy sector.

India added a record 6.05 GW of wind capacity in FY2025-26, with cumulative capacity reaching 58.52 GW by August 2026. With 28 GW under implementation, annual installations are targeted to reach 8 GW by 2027, supporting the goal of 100 GW by 2030.
