PPC Group has announced its entry into the Polish renewable energy market through an agreement to acquire a diversified portfolio of wind and solar projects with a total capacity of 277.3 MW from EDP Renewables.
The portfolio comprises 175.4 MW of operational renewable assets, including 130.5 MW of wind farms located in Ilza, Tomaszow and Poturzyn, and 44.9 MW of solar parks at Pakoslaw and Recz. It also includes 101.9 MW of solar projects under development which are expected to become operational in 2029 using cable pooling technology to optimise existing grid infrastructure and improve renewable energy integration.
According to PPC Group, the acquisition supports its objective of building an integrated regional clean energy platform extending from Greece to Central and Southeastern Europe while enhancing the geographical and technological diversification of its generation portfolio.
Konstantinos Mavros, PPC Group Deputy CEO for Renewables, stated, “Just days after announcing our entry into the Hungarian market, today we are announcing our expansion into the highly promising Polish market. Under our new strategic plan through 2030, we are targeting high-potential markets such as Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, with the objective of developing 2.2 GW of renewable energy and storage projects. By acquiring this highly balanced 277.3 MW portfolio, we are integrating valuable assets into our portfolio while further expanding our geographical footprint.”
PPC Group plans to nearly double its installed capacity from 12.4 GW in 2025 to 24.3 GW by 2030, supported by annual capacity additions of around 2.4 GW, primarily in renewable energy, flexible generation and energy storage. By 2030, the company expects 45 percent of its installed capacity to be located outside Greece as it expands its operations across markets including Romania, Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary.
