POWERGRID to Raise INR 3,800 Crore Through Issue of Bonds

POWERGRID has approved raising INR 3,800 crore through its 83rd privately placed bond issue. It has a base size of INR 1,000 crore and a greenshoe option of INR 2,800 crore.

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has announced that its committee of directors for bonds have approved a proposal to raise INR 3,800 crore through the issue of bonds on private placement.

“The ‘Committee of Directors for Bonds’ in their meeting held on November 17, 2025, has approved the raising of bonds as unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative, redeemable, taxable POWERGRID Bonds - LXXXIII (83rd) Issue 2025-26 for an amount up to INR 3,800 crore on private placement,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

The bond has a base size of INR 1,000 crore and a greenshoe option of INR 2,800 crore. The bond issue is proposed to be listed on both the BSE and the NSE.

The bonds will be redeemable at par in 10 equal annual instalments, and interest payments will be made on a yearly basis, it said. The bonds will remain unsecured, and no charge or security will be created in connection with the issue.

The final coupon rate and interest payment schedule will be determined through bidding conducted on the electronic bidding platform. The company has clarified that the bonds do not carry any special rights, interests, or privileges for investors and that there have been no delays exceeding three months in servicing any past dues.
