POWERGRID Floats Tender for 150 MW/300MWh Battery Storage Project in Andhra Pradesh
POWERGRID invites bids for 150 MW/300 MWh BESS at Kalikiri, Andhra Pradesh. The last date for submission is June 4, 2026.

The tender is part of the larger initiative to set up 1,000 MW/2,000 MWh BESS across the state under tariff-based competitive bidding with Viability Gap Funding supported through the PSDF.
The project follows a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) model. POWERGRID is managing the procurement on behalf of its wholly owned subsidiary, POWERGRID Energy Services Limited (PESL), which will retain ownership of the project. A Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement has already been signed between POWERGRID and the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APTRANSCO).
The successful bidder’s scope includes the complete battery system, Power Conversion System (PCS), PCS transformers, and interconnection with the 33 kV bus developed by APTRANSCO. The completion period is 15 months, followed by a 12-year comprehensive maintenance responsibility.
Bidding is being conducted through a single-stage, two-envelope e-procurement process. The tender documents are available for download from May 14, 2026, until June 4, 2026. Soft copy bids must be submitted by June 4, 2026, with the techno-commercial envelope scheduled to be opened the same day.
A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for May 21, 2026. Interested bidders must register on the PRANIT portal free of cost and possess a valid Class 3B Digital Certificate for encryption and signing. No deviations from the online submission process will be accepted, and late submissions will not be allowed. Document fees are to be paid online through POWERGRID’s dedicated payment utility.
