POWERGRID Commissions Khavda Phase IV Transmission Project for 7 GW RE Evacuation
POWERGRID has commissioned the Khavda Phase IV transmission project, enabling evacuation of up to 7 GW of renewable energy from Gujarat.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has successfully commissioned the 'Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from potential Renewable Energy (RE) Zone in Khavda Area of Gujarat under Phase IV (7 GW) – Part E4.'
The company informed in its filing that the project was commissioned with effect from June 21, 2026. The transmission project forms part of the infrastructure being developed to evacuate renewable energy from the Khavda renewable energy zone in Gujarat, one of India's largest clean energy hubs. The project is expected to strengthen the transmission network supporting large-scale renewable energy integration and facilitate the evacuation of up to 7 GW of renewable power under Phase IV – Part E4.
The commissioning comes amid a series of recent developments for POWERGRID. Over the past month, the state-owned transmission utility has emerged as the successful bidder for multiple interstate transmission projects under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, reinforcing its leadership in India's transmission sector. The company's board has also approved raising up to USD 500 million through domestic or overseas borrowings to finance capital expenditure and strengthen its transmission network.
