Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Growth Markets Funds, a firm specialising in renewable energy investment and infrastructure fund management, has appointed POWERCON to independently manage its 300 MW wind energy project in Karnataka.

According to the firm, this is the first time a full-scope asset management mandate in India has been handed to an independent firm, marking a significant change in how renewable energy projects are governed. The move also underscores the increasing importance of independent asset managers in providing operational expertise, strategic oversight, and long-term value, while supporting measurable progress toward decarbonisation.

While Envision Energy, the turbine supplier, provides technology, POWERCON assumes end-to-end management responsibilities. These include oversight of turbines and Balance of Plant (BOP) operations, stakeholder engagement, coordination with utilities and regulators, and real-time power offtake strategy, all aligned with CIP’s HSSE, ESG, and cybersecurity standards.

On the corporate and financial side, POWERCON manages service providers, insurance, budgeting, reporting, accounting, payments, collections, treasury, and tax compliance. Consolidating these functions under one framework ensures optimised performance, transparency, and sustainable long-term value for CIP.

Peter Jannik Sjonloft, Partner at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, said, "India is one of the world’s most important renewable energy markets. POWERCON’s expertise, OEM-neutral approach, and skilled team make them the ideal partner to maximise performance and value for our investments.”

Praveen Kakulte, Founder and CEO of The POWERCON Group, added, "At POWERCON, we unlock the full potential of renewable energy assets. With a global footprint covering 2.5 GW in India and 40 GW worldwide, we transform every installed megawatt into greater clean energy output. Being entrusted by CIP reinforces our shared commitment to a sustainable, energy-secure future.”
