Power Minister Lays Foundation Stone for ICER's Energy Research Centre at IISc Bengaluru
The research hub will pioneer developments in green energy technologies, including hydrogen and biofuel generation from biomass, advanced batteries, and energy storage systems.

Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh, marked a historic milestone by laying the foundation stone for the cutting-edge Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER) building at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru.
ICER's groundbreaking initiatives, spanning renewable energy domains like green hydrogen, sCo2, power and turbine, and clean coal technology, received a significant boost with the commencement of this new chapter.
The research hub will pioneer developments in green energy technologies, including hydrogen and biofuel generation from biomass, advanced batteries, and energy storage systems.
This endeavor aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of a technologically empowered and self-reliant India, fostering scientific breakthroughs and transformative change.
Supported by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the proposed ICER building aims to replace the aging infrastructure. With a sanctioned assistance of INR 60.74 crores, the modern facility, spanning ground plus three floors, will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, seminar rooms, meeting spaces, a library, and computational facilities.
The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) is scheduled to complete construction by March 2026, ushering in a new era for energy research in India.
