Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate NTPC Green Energy Limited's (NGEL) Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam, on January 8, 2025. This will be India's first Green Hydrogen Hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an investment of approximately INR 1.85 lakh crore.

The hub will feature 20 GW of renewable energy capacity, producing 1,500 TPD of green hydrogen and 7,500 TPD of derivatives like green methanol, urea, and sustainable aviation fuel, mainly for export markets.

Spanning 1,600 acres, the facility will include a manufacturing unit, green chemical zone, storage terminal, port infrastructure, a 7 GW substation, an 80 MLD desalination plant, and an effluent treatment plant. It is expected to be completed by 2032.

The project aims to generate over 57,000 jobs. It will also support India's target of 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, and drive sector-wide decarbonisation to advance Net Zero goals.

This hub is expected to position Andhra Pradesh as a key player in sustainable energy solutions, promoting green energy adoption and enhancing India’s global energy profile.
