India’s flagship PM-KUSUM scheme has achieved 9,466 MW of installed solar capacity across the country, with the government releasing INR 7,089 crore in financial support as of 31 October 2025. The scheme, which is demand-driven, is being implemented across all States and Union Territories, including Jharkhand, and allows participation from individual farmers as well as farmer groups, FPOs, WUAs and PACS.

This was revealed by  Minister of State, Shripad Yesso Naik in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. He further said that the programme has so far covered 19,02,827 beneficiaries nationwide. Under Component-A, 10,000 MW of grid-connected solar power capacity has been sanctioned, of which 653.49 MW has been installed. Under Component-B, 12.72 lakh standalone solar pumps have been sanctioned and 9.17 lakh installed. Under Component-C, 60,828 pumps (IPS) and 35.61 lakh feeders (FLS) have been sanctioned, with 9.84 lakh systems already solarised.

In Jharkhand, the scheme has seen significant adoption under decentralised components, with 52,985 solar pumps sanctioned and 41,467 pumps installed under Component-B. The State currently has no installed capacity under Component-A and has not reported installations under Component-C. The total number of beneficiaries in Jharkhand stands at 41,467, reflecting strong traction among farmers for off-grid solar irrigation solutions.

The Minister said that the government has taken multiple steps to simplify access to the scheme and expand coverage, including issuing revised and simplified guidelines on 17 January 2024, prioritising small and marginal farmers, and giving preference to farmers using micro-irrigation techniques. To improve awareness and implementation, the Ministry has also been conducting regular outreach programmes, capacity-building workshops, as well as periodic review and handholding meetings with State implementing agencies.
