Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (PGVCL) has allocated 479 MW of solar projects to various developers as part of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Uthan Mahabhiyaan (PM KUSUM) initiative.

These projects, tendered under Component C of the PM KUSUM program for feeder-level solarization, are slated to be operational by the end of 2024.

The awarded projects span 170 locations across Gujarat and involve developers including Onix Renewable, Indian Infrastructure and Project India, WAA Solar, Raghuvir Avenues, and GreenBloom Energy, among others. The quoted tariffs for these projects range from INR 2.87/kWh to INR 3.00/kWh.

Onix Renewable leads with 60 locations totaling 187.4 MW. Indian Infrastructure and Project India covers 12 locations with 47.5 MW. WAA Solar, handling 14 locations with 47.5 MW, and Raghuvir Avenues, with 11 locations totaling 33.5 MW. Powertrac Industries will manage 18 locations for 27.1 MW. The Kutch Salt & Allied Industries has 4 locations with 18.6 MW. Friends Impex and Enersan Cleantech are assigned 3 locations (12.2 MW) and 2 locations (7.0 MW) respectively. GreenBloom Energy covers 2 locations for 8.0 MW. Oswal Salt & Chemical Industries will manage a single location with 6.5 MW. An additional 43 locations, totaling 83.7 MW, were awarded to other developers, with tariffs ranging from INR 2.87 to INR 3.00 per kWh.

The power purchase agreements for these projects have been signed with PGVCL.

PM-KUSUM Scheme is aimed at ensuring energy security for farmers in India, along with honouring India’s commitment to increase the share of installed capacity of electric power from non-fossil-fuel sources to 40 percent by 2030 as part of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs).

Under the Component-C of this scheme, individual farmers having grid-connected agriculture pumps will be supported to solarise pumps. The farmer will be able to use the generated solar power to meet the irrigation needs and the excess solar power will be sold to DISCOMs at pre-fixed tariffs.
