Princeton Digital Group (PDG), a data center operator, has secured approximately USD160 million (around INR 1,330 crore) in green financing to expand its flagship MU1 data center campus in Navi Mumbai.
The funding was raised from a consortium of top Indian lenders, including Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Canara Bank, and marks a significant step in PDG’s broader strategy to build sustainable digital infrastructure across the region.
This latest round of financing brings PDG’s total green loan commitments across Asia to USD 728 million, underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship while scaling AI-ready digital infrastructure.
Located within a 50-acre IT/ITES park in Airoli, MU1 is Mumbai’s first data center to receive the prestigious IGBC Platinum certification, a recognition of its environmentally responsible design and operations. The campus already houses two operational buildings with a total capacity of 50 MW, and construction is underway for the first phase of its planned 100 MW expansion.
“Green financing is a key enabler of our mission to develop AI-ready digital infrastructure with sustainability at the core,” said Rangu Salgame, Chairman, CEO, and Co-founder of PDG. “With MU1, we’re not only redefining what a green data center can be, but also supporting Mumbai’s emergence as a critical node in the global AI and cloud ecosystem," he added.
PDG had previously announced its intentions to scale the MU1 campus to a total capacity of 150 MW, alongside a 72 MW data center development in Chennai. Together, these expansions are part of a USD 1 billion investment plan for India’s digital infrastructure, reflecting rising demand from hyperscalers, cloud providers, and enterprise clients.
MU1 is powered by renewable energy sources and features hybrid cooling solutions, hyperscale-grade infrastructure, and robust fiber connectivity. Its proximity to the Kalwa substation further enhances power reliability, making it ideal for mission-critical workloads.
With the infusion of fresh green capital, PDG reinforces its leadership in sustainable data infrastructure as India positions itself as a key player in the AI and digital economy landscape.
