PDG, Flexidao and Tata Power Renewable Energy Launch India’s First Hourly Carbon-Free Energy Matching

Princeton Digital Group (PDG), in partnership with Flexidao and Tata Power Renewable Energy, has launched India’s first hourly carbon-free energy matching system at its 150MW MU1 data centre in Mumbai, moving from monthly validation to real-time tracking to support round-the-clock clean energy use.

Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has implemented an hourly Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) tracking system at its MU1 data centre in Mumbai through a collaboration with Flexidao and Tata Power Renewable Energy. The initiative is the first-of-its-kind in India’s data centre industry, and is expected to set a benchmark for granular clean energy monitoring and transparency. Unlike conventional models that validate renewable electricity usage on a monthly basis, the new system aligns data centre consumption with renewable generation on an hourly cycle.

Varoon Raghavan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Co-founder, PDG, said, “The implementation of time-matched Carbon-Free Energy at our Mumbai campus marks an important step forward for PDG and for sustainable digital infrastructure in India. Through our collaboration with Flexidao, we’re proud to be among the early adopters of time-matched clean energy at scale. This initiative reflects our conviction that innovation and sustainability should go hand in hand, underscoring our ongoing efforts to support India’s clean energy transition while delivering high-performance, AI-ready data centres.”

To achieve time-matched CFE at MU1, PDG leveraged Flexidao’s platform to develop a scalable infrastructure for granular energy data management. This included automating metre data collection, aligning consumption with renewable generation under its supply contract and verifying hourly matching claims by streamlining the management of renewable energy proof of purchase, guided by global standards such as EnergyTag.

Flexidao’s clean energy intelligence platform and advisory support were instrumental in streamlining data processes and strengthening PDG’s internal capabilities for long-term energy strategy.

Simone Accornero, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder, Flexidao, said, “PDG’s proactive approach to time-matched clean energy sets a new benchmark for the industry in the region and helps others to follow suit. Flexidao is proud to support this milestone with our technology and advisory expertise, enabling advanced clean energy intelligence and carbon accounting that help corporate buyers like PDG achieve their clean energy goals at scale and reduce operational costs.”

As the renewable energy supplier, Tata Power Renewable Energy enabled the delivery of clean energy aligned with PDG’s hourly consumption needs.

Sanjay Banga, CEO and Managing Director (MD), Tata Power Renewable Energy, said, “We are proud to support PDG in this pioneering initiative in India which showcases the potential of renewable energy to power India’s digital future round-the clock. This project reflects our commitment to deliver innovative, scalable clean energy solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

The implementation reinforces PDG’s leadership in sustainable digital infrastructure across Asia Pacific and sets a precedent for AI-ready, low-carbon data centres.
