Oyster Renewable Commissions 52.8 MW Wind Capacity in Gujarat for Jindal Stainless

Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. has commissioned 52.8 MW of wind power capacity at Dayapar in Gujarat for Jindal Stainless Ltd.(JSL), marking the company's entry into the state. 

The commissioned capacity comprises 16 wind turbines and represents the second phase of the 99 MW Gujarat wind component of the 315.6 MW solar wind hybrid project being developed by Oyster Renewable for JSL. The overall hybrid project includes 216 MW in Madhya Pradesh and 99 MW in Gujarat.

The 52.8 MW phase involved an investment of approximately INR 385 crore and forms part of the INR 725 crore allocated for the complete 30 turbine wind facility in Gujarat. The overall investment in the 315.6 MW hybrid project exceeds INR 2,000 crore, with Jindal Stainless committing INR 132 crore.

According to the company, the Dayapar wind facility has been certified as compliant with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission's Indian Electricity Grid Code, 2023, the Central Electricity Authority's Technical Standards for Connectivity and Communication, and CEA safety regulations, confirming its readiness for commercial operations.

Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director and CEO of Oyster Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd., said  that the commissioning marks the company's entry into Gujarat and brings the state's wind project closer to full completion. He noted that Gujarat's strong wind resources make it a valuable addition to the project's renewable energy portfolio. Once fully operational, the Gujarat wind facility is expected to avoid nearly 92,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually, while supporting the company's target of building a 3.5 GW renewable energy pipeline.

The remaining 14 wind turbines are expected to be commissioned in phases, taking the Gujarat wind facility to its full 99 MW capacity. The completed project will further support Jindal Stainless' decarbonisation strategy through increased renewable energy supply.
