Organic Recycling Systems (ORSL) has announced that the company, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Solapur Bioenergy Systems (SBESPL), has secured its fifth large-scale (INR 50-100 crore) contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) for the engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance (EPCOM) of an organic municipal solid waste (OMSW)-based compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
The contract encompasses the comprehensive development of the CBG facility, including project management, licensing, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, fabrication, transportation, installation, testing, statutory approvals, commissioning and performance guarantee testing, the company stated.
Commenting on the development, Pankaj Tanwar, CEO – Bioenergy of ORSL, said, “This project represents an important opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities across the EPCOM value chain, from engineering and project execution to commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance. The integrated scope of the contract aligns with our focus on developing reliable and efficient waste-to-energy solutions.”
The proposed facility will process organic municipal solid waste to produce compressed biogas, supporting the conversion of urban waste into a useful energy resource. Such projects contribute to scientific waste management, resource recovery and the development of a circular economy, while supporting India's broader objectives of renewable energy adoption and reduced dependence on conventional fossil fuels, the company asserted.
