Organic Recycling Systems (ORSL), a cleantech and decarbonisation solutions company, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Immersive Technology and Entrepreneurship Labs Foundation (ITEL), Chennai, to jointly drive research, innovation and capacity-building initiatives in bio-energy, waste management and green technologies.
The MoU establishes a collaborative framework for joint R&D programmes, consultancy projects, training initiatives and funding proposals, with a focus on developing scalable and commercially viable solutions in the bioenergy and environmental sustainability domains.
The collaboration will focus on several key areas, including joint research programmes in bioenergy, waste management and green chemicals. Both parties will work together on national and international funding proposals, such as those from BIRAC and DST. The partnership will also emphasise the development of skill-building initiatives, internships and industry-oriented training programmes. Additionally, it will provide access to ORSL’s advanced R&D infrastructure to support joint experimentation and pilot validation. A strong focus will be placed on the commercialisation of research outcomes and the development of intellectual property.
This collaboration further reinforces ORSL’s commitment to advancing its Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) in Navi Mumbai, which is steadily emerging as a national platform for the validation and commercialisation of decarbonisation technologies. The company’s capabilities are further strengthened by its support from the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), enabling it to develop cutting-edge solutions across key areas such as bioenergy and compressed biogas (CBG), carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) and green chemicals aligned with circular economy principles.
The company is now actively transitioning its R&D outcomes from lab-scale innovation to full-scale commercial deployment, creating a strong pipeline of next-generation clean technologies that will contribute significantly to ORSL’s long-term growth and revenue diversification.
The MoU with ITEL Foundation forms part of ORSL’s broader strategy to build an innovation ecosystem through strategic partnerships. As part of this approach, ORSL has entered into multiple collaborations with leading academic institutions and industry stakeholders, including IIT BHU for feedstock characterisation and bio-energy research, IIT Roorkee for advanced process optimisation and environmental engineering and SSS-NIBE for technology validation and pilot studies. In addition, the company has established strategic industry partnerships with organisations working in areas such as Compressed Biogas (CBG), carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and sustainable materials.
These collaborations position ORSL as a bridge between academia, innovation and industry deployment, enabling faster scale-up of climate technologies.
The partnership marks a significant step in ORSL’s transformation from a traditional waste management company to a fully integrated cleantech and green chemicals organisation.
