Oriana Power Ltd. has secured an order for a 25 MWp Captive Solar Power Plant under Delhi's Group Net Metering (GNM) Policy.
The project includes the construction of a 10 km underground transmission line. There will be the establishment of a 66 kV substation which will cater to three GNM users, ensuring efficient power distribution and management of the project. The project also includes a Bay extension at the Substation end.
The solar panels will be installed on raised structures with walkways for cleaning, allowing for clear and uninterrupted farming activities underneath. This design not only optimizes land usage but also combines solar power generation and large-scale agriculture, making it India's largest Agro Photovoltaic project.
Despite Delhi's land constraints, Oriana Power has secured the land for this initiative, which aligns renewable energy with agricultural production. The project will support Real Estate Developers and tackle the urban challenges.
Commenting on the announcement, the Management team of Oriana Power Ltd., stated, "This project, the largest agro photovoltaic installation in India and the largest GNM project in Delhi integrates solar power generation with large-scale farming through raised structures, optimizing land use in a region where land is scarce. This innovative approach not only supports urban decarbonization efforts but also provides economic resilience to local farmers by creating dual revenue streams."
"Our commitment extends to a 25-year operation and maintenance plan, ensuring long-term sustainability. By aiding one of the largest real estate developers in their decarbonization journey, we are setting a benchmark for urban sustainability initiatives. This project underscores Oriana Power’s superior execution capabilities and forward-thinking approach, showcasing our ability to deliver complex projects that address multiple industry challenges simultaneously," the team added.
This initiative underscores Oriana Power's exemplary execution capabilities, representing the largest GNM initiative in India and the first of its kind in Delhi. Regulatory approvals are in progress to ensure the project's long-term success and sustainability, showcasing Oriana Power's commitment to future-ready solutions in sustainable development.
