Oriana Power has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Truere Knight has signed battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (RVUNL) for setting up of 50 MW/100 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Rajasthan.
The project will deploy standalone grid-scale BESS facilities with a total capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh at Heerapura, Jaipur SS, Rajasthan. The BESS system will be capable of complete two-cycle charging/ discharging for 'on-demand' usage, under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model, the company stated in a regulatory filing.
The expected viability gap funding (VGF) shall be INR 27 crore, based on current estimated project cost. The broad consideration for this order shall be about INR 188.61 crore over a period of 12 years from Scheduled Commissioning Date of the Project.
Earlier this week, the company received a letter of award (LoA) from NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd. (NVNN) for setting up a 125 MW/250 MWh BESS Projects at the Giral Substation in Rajasthan. The BESS will be capable of complete two-cycle charging/discharging for 'on-demand' usage and will be developed under the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model.
The expected VGF shall be INR 67.50 crore, basis the current estimated project cost. The broad consideration for this order shall be INR 465.15 crore, over a period of 12 years from Scheduled Commissioning Date of the project.
Both the projects are expected to be commissioned within 18 months from the execution of BESPA.
“These initiatives of BESS will improve grid stability by balancing supply and demand, reducing the risk of blackouts, and enhancing overall grid efficiency,” it said.
In June 2025, the company also secured an EPC order worth about INR 98.63 crore for 20 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) project located in Banka district of Bihar. It also includes operation and maintenance for a period of 3 years.
In March 2025, Oriana Power signed an INR 500 crore MoU with the Assam government to develop solar and battery energy storage projects in Kamrup district of Assam, during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 held in Guwahati, Assam.
