Organic Recycling Systems Ltd. (ORSL), a prominent company in the cleantech and waste management sector, has announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI), Pune.

This strategic collaboration marks a significant step towards accelerating innovation, research, and development in sustainable waste management, green energy, and biofuel sector, said ORSL in a statement.

It further added that this collaboration between ORSL and VSI is poised to unlock significant opportunities in research and academic development. This includes jointly applying for external funding for lab-scale and pilot projects under various government schemes such as DBT, DST, MNRE, and MoEFCC. The partnership will also encompass joint consulting and validation assignments related to emerging bioenergy and biofuel technologies and products.

To foster a culture of innovation, ORSL and VSI will co-organize seminars, workshops, and academic programs that encourage entrepreneurship and support start-ups in the field of sustainable technologies. Furthermore, the collaboration will involve faculty and researcher engagement through joint projects, shared infrastructure, and collaborative submissions for both short-term consultancies and long-term research grants at national and international levels, it said.

In the area of academics and capacity building, the MoU supports mutual professional growth. ORSL employees will have the opportunity to pursue part-time PhD programs at VSI, while VSI students will benefit from industry exposure through internships and dissertation opportunities at ORSL.

ORSL scientists will also contribute to VSI’s academic curriculum by delivering expert lectures in areas such as environmental biotechnology, waste management, green chemical technologies, and biofuels. Additionally, the partnership will focus on strengthening capacity for both students and staff through short-term courses, workshops, and conferences.

Speaking on the development, Sarang Bhand, Promoter and MD, Organic Recycling Systems, stated, “This collaboration with Vasantdada Sugar Institute is a landmark moment for ORSL.
