OREDA, NLC India Renewables Join Hands to Develop 1,000 MW Green Energy Projects in Odisha

OREDA and NLC India Renewables formed a joint venture to develop 1,000 MW of wind, floating solar and green energy projects.

The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) and NLC India Renewables Ltd. (NIRL), the renewable energy subsidiary of NLC India Ltd. have signed a joint venture agreement to develop 1,000 MW of renewable energy projects across Odisha.

The agreement was signed at Kharavela Bhavan in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister KV Singh Deo. The proposed joint venture company will implement a diversified portfolio of clean energy projects, including 250 MW of wind power capacity and 225 MW of floating solar projects, along with other renewable energy initiatives across the state.

Under the partnership structure, NIRL will hold a 51 percent stake in the joint venture, while OREDA will own the remaining 49 percent. The board of the new company will consist of five directors, with three nominated by NIRL and two by OREDA.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh Deo described the collaboration as a significant milestone for Odisha’s energy sector, stating that the venture would support sustainable industrial development and strengthen the state's position as a hub for green innovation and clean energy investment.

Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, Vishal Kumar Dev said that the initiative would enhance Odisha’s institutional capabilities to execute large-scale renewable energy projects while advancing the state's transition toward a low-carbon economy. He noted that the partnership is aligned with India's broader climate and sustainability objectives and is expected to attract further green investments into Odisha.

The signing ceremony was attended by NIRL Chief Executive Officer Devendra Pratap Singh and NLC India Director (Finance) Prasanna Kumar Acharya, among other officials. The venture is expected to play a key role in expanding Odisha’s renewable energy capacity and supporting the state's long-term clean energy ambitions.
