Ongoing Renewable Energy Projects Set to Receive Time Extension: MNRE Secretary

Renewable Energy projects under execution will be given extension of time bearing in mind period of lockdown and time required for re-mobilization of work force, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Secretary Anand Kumar said.

Kumar made the declaration through a tweet succeeding Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi's announcement for a widespread lockdown across the country for 21 days from Tuesday midnight, emphasizing that it was "very necessary to break the chain of coronavirus infection."

The MNRE Secretary also acknowledged that the spread of coronavirus has not only interrupted the supply chain of components used in Renewable Energy projects but also has impacted the availability of workforce.

In this milieu, Kumar said, the announcement of the extension of time will deliver great respite to all the stakeholders in Renewable Energy sector.

As per Kumar's announcement, the extension of time for Renewable Energy projects under implementation will consider the lockdown period which will continue till April 14.
