OMC Power has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to develop and operate minigrids in Waro village, Ethiopia, and scale the initiative to 1,000 sites across the country.

The project will bring clean, affordable, and reliable electricity to over 11,000 residents, unlocking new opportunities for growth and prosperity. “OMC Power has long been a pioneer in rural energy innovation, deploying its proven ABC model (Anchor, Business, Community) to deliver scalable and sustainable electrification. Our minigrids integrate advanced automation and intelligent systems for remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and efficient energy distribution—all under a financially viable, community-driven business model designed to thrive without subsidies. With this development, the people of Waro will flourish—empowered by energy that redefines daily life and fuels long-term progress,” the company stated.

It further added, “Access to clean power remains central to our mission. We believe energy is a right—not a privilege—for every household, school, clinic, and enterprise. Across hundreds of villages, our work has already catalysed economic development, infrastructure growth, and women empowerment. Now, Waro joins this journey.”
