Oman’s Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has announced a five-year programme comprising 90 infrastructure projects across its industrial cities, alongside plans for the largest solar energy project within the country’s industrial zones.

The initiatives were unveiled during a partners' meeting hosted by Suhar Industrial City, where Madayn presented its updated Vision 2040 strategy and roadmap for 2026-2030. The plan aims to strengthen industrial competitiveness, accelerate sustainability efforts and improve Oman’s investment environment.

The strategy is built around three key pillars, development and operations, institutional excellence, and environmental protection. Under the programme, 90 projects will be implemented to upgrade and expand infrastructure across Madayn’s industrial cities, supporting future industrial growth and attracting new investments.

A major component of the plan is the Madayn Energy Project in Suhar Industrial City. Spanning around 1.45 million square metres, the solar development is expected to become the largest renewable energy project within Oman’s industrial cities. The project will supply clean energy to more than 200 industrial units, helping reduce carbon emissions and supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Speaking at the event, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Mayasi said that Madayn remains focused on creating an integrated investment ecosystem through infrastructure development, investor support services, innovation programmes and workforce development initiatives.

Madayn is also expanding its digital transformation efforts to enhance investor experience. The organisation currently offers 117 digital services, with 80 percent  accessible through electronic payment channels.

In Suhar Industrial City, several development projects are underway, including a consultancy study to rehabilitate infrastructure and support services across Phases 1 to 6, as well as the completion of infrastructure works for Phase 7. The rehabilitation study is expected to conclude in the second quarter of 2026.

The announcement comes amid strong growth in Suhar Industrial City. During 2025, the industrial zone attracted 48 new projects with investments exceeding RO105 million across more than two million square metres. Total cumulative investments have reached RO2.3 billion, while employment in operating projects has increased to 13,299 workers.

The infrastructure expansion programme and renewable energy investments are intended to strengthen the competitiveness of Oman’s industrial sector, attract additional investment and support the country's long-term economic diversification goals.
