Muscat-based Five Elements Environmental Services has announced a strategic partnership with the Netherlands’ Pondera Consult to support investors and developers in Oman’s growing renewable energy and green hydrogen sector.

The collaboration will deliver technical, engineering, environmental, social, and climate risk assessments, guiding projects through feasibility studies as well as pre- and post-bid phases. The aim is to align investments with Oman’s clean energy ambitions under Vision 2040 and its Net-Zero 2050 goal.

The alliance draws inspiration from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s landmark visit to the Netherlands in April 2025 and underscores deepening bilateral ties in clean energy innovation.

Pondera, part of the global engineering and project management group Haskoning, brings global expertise in wind, solar, green hydrogen, and battery storage, with particular strengths in wind resource assessment and optimizing project design efficiency. Five Elements adds its in-depth knowledge of Oman’s environmental and social landscape, focusing on biodiversity, land use, and community engagement while ensuring compliance with international lender safeguards such as IFC Performance Standards PS1, PS5, and PS6.

“This collaboration combines comprehensive local knowledge with international technical expertise,” said Kris Vallancey, Director of Five Elements. “As Oman advances its green hydrogen and renewable energy agenda, ensuring adherence to environmental and social safeguards is crucial for enhancing project bankability and long-term success," he added.

Eric Arends of Pondera noted “Our team looks forward to contributing technical insights to developers working with Hydrom, Nama PWP, OQAE, and others. Our global experience in wind and solar will bring significant value to Oman’s renewable energy future.”

The partnership comes as Oman accelerates project development through initiatives such as Hydrom’s third round of green hydrogen auctions and Nama PWP’s procurement of large-scale solar and wind projects. Together, the firms will help developers tackle challenges ranging from wake-effect energy losses in wind farms to cumulative impacts on sensitive ecosystems, as well as site-specific climate and flood risks.
