Oman has signed an agreement with Dutch partners to assess the cost and logistics of exporting green hydrogen and its derivatives to the Netherlands, strengthening emerging clean energy trade ties with Europe.
The agreement was concluded during the World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition in Rotterdam, held recently, where Oman was represented by a delegation led by Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.
The study is part of the NoorBridge initiative, which aims to develop a commercial green hydrogen export corridor between Oman and the Netherlands, involving Sohar Port and Freezone, the German University of Technology in Oman, Asyad Group and Dutch partners including the Holland Hydrogen Hub.
Under the agreement, stakeholders will examine transport routes, logistics costs and supply chain requirements for moving hydrogen from Oman to European markets.
During the visit, discussions were also held on establishing a direct hydrogen corridor between Oman and the Port of Rotterdam, alongside cooperation on renewable energy integration, grid connectivity and hydrogen infrastructure.
The Omani delegation held meetings with the Port of Rotterdam, Port of Vlissingen, Gasunie and other European energy organisations, focusing on hydrogen storage, certification systems, carbon capture technologies and import infrastructure development.
Officials said that the collaboration supports global efforts to scale low-carbon energy systems and advance net-zero transition goals.
