Oman has awarded a technical consultancy contract to Serbian engineering firm Energoprojekt ENTEL (EPE) for the development and tendering of three new gas-fired power projects, according to the information provided by the company.

The contract was awarded by Nama Power and Water Procurement (Nama PWP), Oman’s power and water procurement company. The consultancy assignment covers the preparation of concept designs, assistance with site selection, development of tender documents and support for the competitive bidding process.

EPE will also assist in the technical evaluation of bids, selection of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors, contract award and signing procedures, and coordination with financial and legal advisers.

The project will be supported by EPE teams based in Oman, Serbia and Qatar. The company will provide engineering and consultancy services for the proposed power generation developments.

The individual capacities, locations and commissioning schedules of the three projects were not specified in the information provided.

The planned developments form part of Oman’s efforts to expand its electricity generation infrastructure to meet growing power demand. Gas-fired power plants are expected to provide dispatchable electricity generation alongside the country’s renewable energy capacity.electricity generation infrastructure
