EKA Mobility has recently deployed its EKA 9M electric buses for Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) in Odisha. The rollout has been executed in collaboration with Travel Time Mobility, reinforcing a shared commitment to clean, efficient and sustainable public transportation. EKA Mobility is backed by global equity partners Mitsui and Co of Japan and VDL Groep of the Netherlands.

The electric buses were virtually flagged off by the Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, marking a significant milestone in the state’s transition towards environmentally friendly public transport solutions.

Commenting on the deployment, Rohit Srivastava, Business Head and Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility, said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on accelerating India’s shift to sustainable mobility.

He stated, “The introduction of EKA 9M electric buses will help improve passenger experience, reduce carbon emissions and support Odisha’s long-term sustainable transportation goals. The partnership with Travel Time Mobility is expected to strengthen EKA’s presence across India.”

Vivek Kalkar, Director, Travel Time Mobility, described the deployment as a major step towards clean and sustainable mobility in Odisha.

He added, “The company is proud to be associated with the initiative and aims to further strengthen collaboration with CRUT while contributing to the state’s green transport objectives.”

Under the project, a total of 100 EKA electric buses will be deployed across the capital region, strengthening CRUT’s public transport network. The initiative is expected to lower carbon emissions while offering a more reliable and comfortable commuting experience to passengers.

The EKA 9M is a next-generation, zero-emission electric bus designed specifically for urban mobility. Featuring a 9-metre configuration, the bus can accommodate 35 passengers and includes wheelchair accessibility. It is powered by a 213 kW motor and a 200 kWh LFP battery, offering an alternative to conventional diesel buses.
