The Odisha government has signed agreements worth INR 67,000 crore for the development of 6.8 GW of renewable energy projects.

Under the state Energy Department, GRIDCO inked MoUs with National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), and a consortium of ABC Cleantech Pvt Ltd & Axis Energy Ventures India Pvt Ltd.

NHPC will develop a 1,000 MW pumped storage project (PSP), while BPCL plans a mix of ground-mounted solar, floating solar PV, and pumped storage projects. The consortium of ABC Cleantech and Axis Energy Ventures aims to develop 5,000 MW of clean energy, and NEEPCO will develop 800 MW of pumped storage projects.

Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, present at the Odisha Renewable Energy Investor Conclave 2026, said the state is determined to be a frontrunner in the country’s renewable energy sector.

“India has set a bold target of 500 GW non-fossil energy by 2030, and Odisha is contributing meaningfully. Our coastline offers a unique advantage for wind energy, alongside solar and small hydro,” he said.  Deo added that Odisha also has huge storage potential, strong regulatory frameworks, and efficient approval processes.

Energy Department ACS Vishal Dev highlighted that the state has introduced multiple policies and incentives to attract renewable investments. “Odisha’s top ranking in fiscal management by NITI Aayog further strengthens investor confidence,” he added.

GRIDCO MD Satyapriya Rath said that the agency’s RENA cell is supporting projects from planning to commissioning, ensuring transparent procurement, assured offtake, and timely bidding.
