Odisha Government Attracts INR 4,940 Crore Investment for Wind Energy Projects

In a significant development, the Odisha government has received investment proposals totaling INR 4,940 crore for wind energy projects. The announcement was made during the 'Odisha Wind Energy Summit Investor Round Table' held in Bhubaneswar.
 
GRIDCO, a state government undertaking and the nodal agency for renewable energy development, in collaboration with iFOREST, organised the event to explore investment opportunities in the wind power sector.
 
Prospective investors engaged in one-on-one meetings with senior government officials and GRIDCO representatives, resulting in investment commitments for 575 MW of wind energy capacity. The event saw participation from 25 key investors from across the country, fostering collaboration among stakeholders in wind power production and manufacturing.
 
Chief Secretary PK Jena expressed the state's commitment to supporting the wind industry, while Finance and Energy Secretary VK Dev was confident that the summit would contribute significantly to Odisha's wind energy sector goals.
 
Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale, Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, commended the state's proactive initiatives, and the National Institute of Renewable Energy (NIWE) pledged support for harnessing wind power in Odisha. Senior officials from CPSEs and key private players were also present at the summit.
