Odisha has sharpened its clean-energy focus with the approval of a major INR 710.27 crore floating solar power project in Sundargarh, greenlit during the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority’s 142nd meeting.
The project, to be developed by NTPC-SAIL Power Company Ltd., is one of the most prominent renewable energy proposals cleared by the state this year. Officials said the installation will significantly expand Odisha’s solar capacity and strengthen its long-term green power portfolio.
While the state cleared a total of 20 industrial projects across sectors, the floating solar initiative stands out as the flagship renewable investment, underscoring Odisha’s push to attract clean-tech developers and diversify its energy mix.
The government added that the project is expected to generate employment, support local infrastructure, and accelerate the state’s transition toward low-carbon growth.
