O-Green, Oman’s renewable energy developer, has announced plans to develop a 58 MW pilot wind power project in Duqm, strengthening the country’s push toward clean energy and low-carbon industrial development.
The project, known as the Duqm North and South Wind Project (DNSWP), will consist of six wind turbines with a combined installed capacity of 58 MW. Each turbine will have a capacity of 9.6 MW, making them among the largest wind energy units planned for deployment in the region.
Located within the Duqm Special Economic Zone, the wind farm is expected to generate approximately 190 GWh of renewable electricity annually. The power produced will primarily support the decarbonisation of O-Green’s planned wind turbine manufacturing facility in Duqm, helping reduce the carbon footprint of industrial operations.
The pilot project forms part of O-Green’s wider renewable energy expansion strategy. The company currently has a development pipeline exceeding 11 GW of solar and wind projects, alongside 4.5 GWh of battery energy storage capacity across Oman, the Gulf region, Africa and Europe.
O-Green is also advancing a 2.7 GW round-the-clock renewable energy project combining solar, wind and battery storage technologies in Duqm and Mahout. The project recently secured a long-term power purchase agreement with Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, providing a major boost to Oman’s clean energy ambitions.
In parallel, the company is developing a 93 MW solar power project in Suhar Industrial City in partnership with Madayn. The facility is expected to begin operations in September 2026 and supply renewable electricity to more than 200 industrial establishments.
Beyond power generation, O-Green is investing in local manufacturing capabilities. The company is establishing a wind turbine manufacturing plant in Duqm, with the first phase set to produce multi-megawatt turbines using technology licensed from China’s Shanghai Electric Group.
The company is also expanding internationally through a partnership with Botswana Power Corporation to develop a 500 MW solar photovoltaic project in Botswana, with the collaboration targeting renewable energy investments of up to 3 GW.
Established in 2025 as a joint venture between OQ Alternative Energy and Naqaa Sustainable Energy, O-Green is positioning itself as a key player in Oman’s energy transition while supporting the development of renewable-powered industrial and digital infrastructure.
