Nxtra Data Acquires 35 Percent Stake in AMPIN Energy SPV for Captive Solar Project
Bharti Airtel’s subsidiary Nxtra Data will acquire 35 percent stake in AMPIN Energy C&I Sixteen to develop a 13.2 MW solar power plant in Maharashtra, ensuring captive renewable energy supply compliance.

Bharti Airtel Ltd.'s subsidiary Nxtra Data Ltd. has entered into an agreement to acquire a 35 percent equity stake (51.92 lakh shares) in AMPIN Energy C&I Sixteen Pvt. Ltd. a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established for setting up a 13.2 MW solar power plant in Maharashtra.
The acquisition, valued at INR 5.19 crore, will enable Nxtra to comply with regulatory requirements for captive power consumption under the Electricity Act, 2003 and to procure cost-effective renewable energy for its data centre operations.
The SPV is promoted by AMPIN C&I Pvt. Ltd.and is currently developing the solar project at Village Dighol-Islamnpur, Parbani District, which will connect to a 132 KV sub-station and supply green power to Nxtra through the intrastate network.
Completion of the transaction is subject to receipt of regulatory approvals, including Grid Connectivity and Open Access permissions. The solar plant is expected to be operational by Q4 FY 2025–26.
