NTPC-SAIL Power Company (NSPCL), a joint venture of NTPC and Steel Authority of India (SAIL), has commissioned the third and final 5 MW module (Island-2) of its 15 MW Bhilai Floating Solar Power Station in Chhattisgarh, bringing the entire project into commercial operation.
The company declared the full 15 MW floating solar power station under commercial operation (COD) with effect from June 24, 2026, following the successful commissioning of the balance 5 MW capacity.
Located in Bhilai, the project has been developed by NSPCL, a joint venture between NTPC and SAIL. Floating solar installations utilise water bodies for solar power generation, reducing land requirements while improving water surface utilisation and supporting sustainable energy development.
With the commissioning of the Bhilai floating solar project, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has increased to 90,904 MW, while its commercial operating capacity has reached 89,824 MW, further strengthening the group's renewable energy portfolio.
NTPC also announced the commissioning of the third and last part capacity of 41.6 MW out of 176 MW capacity of NTPC's Solar PV Project at Ramagundam, Telangana. The first and second part capacity of 100 MW and 34.4 MW, were commissioned in May 2026.
