NTPC Renewable Energy Operationalises 38 MW Part Capacity in its 300 MW Khavda Solar Project

NTPC Green Energy has operationalised 37.925 MW of its 300 MW Khavda solar project in Gujarat under the 450 MW hybrid tranche V project of NTPC Renewable Energy, lifting the group’s total installed renewable capacity to 7,927.26 MW.

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy, has operationalised 37.925 MW of part capacity of its 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, which is part of a 450 MW hybrid project in Gujarat.

“The fifth part capacity of 37.925 MW out of the 300 MW Khavda solar energy project located in Gujarat under the 450 MW hybrid tranche V project of NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, is declared on commercial operation w.e.f. 00:00 hrs of December 18, 2025,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

It further added that with the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group has increased to 7,927.26 MW.

This week, NTPC Group added approximately 321.66 MW of capacity across Rajasthan and Gujarat. While NTPC operationalised 78 MW at its Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan, NTPC Renewable Energy commissioned 243.66 MW of part capacity of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat.

With these additions, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC on a standalone and group basis will now become 60,783 MW and 85,540 MW, respectively.

In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.

Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
