NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has marked a significant achievement with the successful commencement of commercial operations at its inaugural project, a 50 MW wind facility in Dayapar, Kachch, Gujarat.
This milestone elevates NTPC Group's total installed capacity to an impressive 73,874 MW, with the renewable energy operational capacity now standing at 3,364 MW.
The Dayapar Wind project is not only NTPC REL's maiden venture but also the first capacity in India to be declared commercial under the new Indian Electricity Grid Code and General Network Access Regime, highlighting the company's adherence to industry standards.
In addition to this, NTPC REL has 15 other renewable energy projects in the pipeline, totaling 6,210 MW. The Dayapar Wind Complex alone will add 450 MW to NTPC's existing 100 MW wind portfolio.
NTPC REL is also focusing on innovative Green Hydrogen technologies, setting up a substantial capacity in Ladakh. Meanwhile, NTPC Green Energy Ltd. (NGEL), another NTPC subsidiary, is actively commissioning 2,711 MW of renewable energy and working on two new projects: a 40 MW solar facility in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and a Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh.
NTPC's long-term goal is to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, and the company currently has a substantial pipeline of over 20 GW in renewable energy projects. This achievement marks a significant contribution to India's clean energy landscape, with NTPC and its subsidiaries playing a pivotal role in the nation's sustainable energy future.
