NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. (NTPC REL) marked a milestone with the commencement of commercial operations for its first solar project in Chhattargarh, Rajasthan, boasting a capacity of 70 MW. With this, the installed capacity of NTPC Group has reached 73,958 MW.

The inauguration ceremony, attended by CEO Mohit Bhargava alongside other officials, underlines the company's commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives. Notably, NTPC REL currently has 17 projects under execution, collectively exceeding 6,000 MW in capacity, further solidifying its position as a key player in the renewable energy sector.

The Chhattargarh Solar project, anticipated to attain its full capacity of 150 MW by March 2024, was secured under SECI-Tranche: III, with the state of Rajasthan poised to reap its benefits as the primary beneficiary.

Designed to produce a staggering 370 million units of energy annually, equivalent to powering 60,000 households, the project is also slated to contribute significantly to environmental sustainability.

With an estimated annual reduction of 3 lakh tons of CO2 emissions and the conservation of 1,000 MMTPA of water, the project underscores NTPC REL's dual commitment to energy production and environmental stewardship.

This substantial reduction in carbon footprint, coupled with efficient water conservation measures, translates to tangible benefits for both local communities and the broader ecosystem, providing energy access while mitigating environmental impact.
