NTPC Mining invites EoI for 50 MW solar projects at coal mines in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh under the RESCO model.

NTPC Mining Ltd. has invited Expressions of Interest from Indian companies, firms and consortiums of up to three entities to develop a cumulative 50 MWp DC / 40 MW AC of ground mounted solar capacity at two coal mining projects under the RESCO model.

The proposed projects include 25 MWp DC / 20 MW AC at the Pakribarwadih Coal Mining Project in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, and an equivalent capacity at the Talaipalli Coal Mining Project in Sundargarh, Chhattisgarh. The projects will be developed, financed, owned, operated and maintained by the selected RESCO developers, while NML will procure the generated electricity under long term PPAs.

At Pakribarwadih, around 80 acres of Dump C has been earmarked for the solar project, while another 80 acres of the 112 acre MGR Bulb area at Talaipalli has been identified. NML noted that the Pakribarwadih project capacity could subsequently increase to 30–35 MWp DC during the RFP stage.

The proposed plants will use DCR compliant solar modules of at least 590 Wp, with a minimum DC/AC ratio of 1.25 and a minimum CUF requirement of 22 percent. The developer will also be responsible for comprehensive O&M for 25 years.

The EoI was issued on August 11, 2026, with responses due by September 1, 2026. NML said that the non binding EoI will help assess market interest, commercial viability, technical requirements and potential implementation challenges before formulation of the subsequent RFP or tender.
