Reiterating its commitment towards being a socially conscious organisation, NTPC has announced that it has offered aid and extended support by initiating a slew of measures to reinstate normalcy in the cyclone-hit state of Odisha.
In coordination with the Director Health Services, NTPC has proactively set up medical camps at two locations, Penthakata and Chandrabhaga, in Puri. As part of the initiative, a team comprising of six doctors and 5 paramedics have already attended to over 250 people that visited the camps on May 6th. In addition to offering medical support, NTPC has provided 3 DG sets (2 Nos 125 KVA and 1nos 250 KVA), conductors of 100 km length and 1000 poles. While, a five member team has been provided with power saws to remove trees that have fallen due to the cyclone, around 350 people are actively working with the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) of Odisha.
Fani, India’s strongest tropical cyclone to make landfall in 20 years, caused widespread devastation in Odisha and its surrounding states. The storm caused a number of trees to be uprooted while leaving nearly 30 lakh people across the state without electricity.
