NTPC Group Operationalises 321.66 MW Solar Capacity Across Gujarat and Rajasthan

NTPC has declared the commercial operation of new solar capacities in Rajasthan and Gujarat, commissioning 78 MW at the Nokh Solar PV project and 243.66 MW at the Khavda-I Solar PV project. With these additions, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has reached 85,503 MW.

State-owned NTPC has announced the commissioning of 78 MW out of 245 MW capacity at Plot 1 of its 735 MW Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan.

“Consequent upon successful commissioning, 78 MW out of 245 MW capacity at Plot-1 of NTPC's Nokh Solar PV Project (3x245MW), Rajasthan, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of December 17, 2025,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

The 245 MW Plot 3 was fully commissioned in June 2025.

In another development, NTPC’s step-down subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy, has commissioned 243.66 MW of part capacity of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat.

“We wish to inform you that the seventh part capacity of 243.66 MW out of 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project located in Gujarat under CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-III of NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 hrs of December 17, 2025,” the company stated in another regulatory filing.

With these additions, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC on a standalone and group basis will now become 60,783 MW and 85,503 MW, respectively. NTPC Green Energy’s operational capacity has reached 7,889.335 MW.

In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.

Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
