NTPC Green Energy Tenders EPC Package for 80 MW/320 MWh BESS Projects in Kerala

NTPC Green Energy has issued an EPC tender for developing 80 MW/320 MWh grid-connected battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects at KSEB substations in Pothencode and Sreekantapuram, Kerala, on a turnkey basis. Bid submission ends on September 16, 2025.

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has floated an EPC tender for the development of 80 MW/320 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects at Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) substations at Pothencode and Sreekantapuram in Kerala.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation and commissioning of the grid-connected BESS projects on turnkey basis.

Project is divided into two blocks: Block-1: 40 MW/160 MWh at KSEB Pothencode and Block-2: 40 MW/160 MWh at KSEB Sreekantapuram.

Bidders need to pay INR 22,500 as a tender document fee. Further they need to deposit INR 2 crore for one block and INR 5 crore for both the block, as a bid security.

The last date for submission of bids is September 16, 2025 till 3:00 PM. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.

The designed life of BESS system including that of battery must be of 12 years (considering daily single cycle operation) from the date of commissioning.

Further, the bidders must provide comprehensive operation and maintenance works of BESS system for 12 years from the date of commissioning.

The bidder must have manufactured and supplied batteries of cumulative capacity of minimum 80 MWh for grid interactive battery energy storage system(s), out of which at least one supply order should be of minimum 20 MWh capacity. This reference plant must have been in successful operation for at least six months prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening.

Alternatively, the bidder must have supplied, installed/supervised installation and commissioned/supervised commissioning of grid interactive battery energy storage systems of cumulative installed capacity of minimum 80 MWh, out of which at least one grid interactive battery energy storage system should be of minimum 20 MWh capacity. This reference plant must have been in successful operation for at least six months prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening.

Alternatively, the bidder must have designed, supplied, erected/supervised erection and commissioned/supervised commissioning of Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV)/Wind-based grid-connected power plant(s) of cumulative installed capacity of 40 MWAC or higher, out of which at least one plant should have been of 10 MWAC or higher capacity. This reference plant must have been in successful operation for at least six months prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening.

Or, the bidder must have executed in the last 10 years an industrial project either as a developer or as an EPC Contractor in the area of power, steel, oil and gas, petro- chemical, fertilizer, cement, or any other process industry, of minimum INR 981 million, in a single project or single work and the same must be in successful operation for at least one year for industrial projects other than RE sector and six months for projects in RE sector.

Additionally, the bidder must have executed at least one electrical sub-station of minimum 33kV voltage level, consisting of equipment such as 33kV or above voltage level circuit breakers and power transformer, either as a developer or as an EPC contractor which must be in successful operation for at least one at least one year for industrial projects other than RE sector and six months for projects in RE sector.

As for financial eligibility, the average annual turnover of the bidder must not be less than INR 981 Million during the preceding three financial years.
