NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has announced that the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) for developing renewable energy projects.

The MoU was exchanged between NGEL and SCCL in the presence of N Balram (IRS), Chairman and Managing Director, SCCL and other senior officials from NGEL and SCCL.

The MoU aims to explore business opportunities of mutual interest towards the development of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind and hybrid projects with or without storage, green hydrogen/derivatives, green mobility, etc.

Last month, NTPC Green Energy signed an MoU with CtrlS Datacenter to develop around 2 GW of renewable energy projects for supplying round-the-clock (RTC) RE power to CtrlS’ data centres across India for captive consumption.

In July 2025, NGEL signed an MoU with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. (BSPGCL) to jointly develop renewable energy and battery storage projects aimed at accelerating decarbonisation and energy transition in Bihar.

In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.

Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
