NTPC Green Energy Signs MoU with PTC India to Explore Renewable Energy Power Sales

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has signed an MoU with PTC India to explore bilateral and market-based renewable energy power sales.

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PTC India for exploring the possibilities of power sale of renewable energy (RE) to PTC India through bilateral arrangements and other market mechanisms.
 
The MoU was signed by Sarit Maheshwari, CEO, NGEL and Dr. Manoj Kumar Jhawar, CMD, PTC India, in the presence of senior officials of both companies.
 
Recently, NGEL announced that its operational RE capacity has crossed the 10 GW mark. “The Group’s total installed capacity now stands at 10,076 MW, marking an exceptional addition of 4,175 MW during FY 2025-26, of which 2,065 MW was commissioned in Q4 alone,” the company stated.
 
In January 2026, Solar Energy Corporation of India and PTC India signed an MoU to collaborate on renewable energy integration, power market operations, battery energy storage systems, and jointly develop large-scale renewable and storage projects.
               
In November 2025, NGEL signed an MoU with Singareni Collieries Company to explore business opportunities for jointly developing solar, wind, hybrid, energy-storage, green hydrogen and green mobility projects.
 
In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.
 
Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
