NTPC Green Energy Signs MoU with Nxtra Data for Development of RE Projects

NTPC Green Energy has signed an MoU with Nxtra Data to develop renewable energy projects for supplying round-the-clock captive power to the latter’s data centres across India.

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nxtra Data (Nxtra) to develop renewable energy projects for the supply of RE Round-the-Clock (RTC) power to Nxtra Datacenters on a pan-India basis for their captive consumption.
 
The MoU was signed by Sarit Maheshwari, CEO, NGEL and NTPC Renewable Energy and Ashish Arora, CEO, Nxtra, at NTPC Bhawan, New Delhi.
 
Last month, NTPC Green Energy signed an MoU with Assago Industries to supply green ammonia, carbon dioxide, and renewable power for a proposed 1,000 TPD green urea plant at its Pudimadaka green hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh.
 
In November 2025, NGEL signed an MoU with Singareni Collieries Company to explore business opportunities for jointly developing solar, wind, hybrid, energy-storage, green hydrogen and green mobility projects.
 
In October 2025, NTPC Green Energy signed an MoU with CtrlS Datacenter to develop around 2 GW of renewable energy projects for supplying round-the-clock (RTC) RE power to CtrlS’ data centres across India for captive consumption.
 
In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.
 
Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
