NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CtrlS Datacenter (CtrlS) to supply round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy to the latter’s data centres across India.

“The MoU aims to explore business opportunities of mutual interest towards development of Renewable Energy Projects of 2 GW capacity or more for the supply of RE RTC power to CtrlS Datacenters on a PAN India basis for their captive consumption,” the company said in a statement.

The MoU was signed by Sarit Maheshwari, CEO – NGEL and NTPC REL and Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder and Chairman, CtrlS Datacenter.

In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.

Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
