NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has tendered an EPC Package for developing 1,100 MW/3,300 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at NTPC Renewable Energy’s Khavda Solar Plant in Gujarat.
The project is divided into 4 Blocks: 3 Blocks with 300 MW/900 MWh capacity each and another Block with 200 MW/600 MWh capacity.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation and commissioning of a grid-connected BESS on a turnkey basis.
Comprehensive O&M, including associated warranty and an annual maintenance contract to maintain the performance of the BESS for a period of 15 years, must be included in the scope of the bidder.
The last date for submission of bids is October 27, 2026 till 3:00 PM. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.
The BESS will include battery containers with battery racks, BMS, EMS, SCADA, PCS and inverter-duty transformers, along with protection and power evacuation systems up to the owner’s 33 kV pooling switchgear.
The scope will also cover cables, communication, HT/LT and auxiliary power systems, monitoring and control, fire-fighting, remote monitoring and control, and other equipment and services required for reliable operation and maintenance.
Design life of the BESS system, including that of the battery, must be 25 years from the date of commissioning.
Minimum monthly Round Trip Efficiency (RTE) shall be 80 percent including auxiliary consumption. Annual system availability must be maintained at 98 percent.
