NTPC Green Energy Operationalises 300 MW of its 500 MW Bhadla Solar Project in Rajasthan
NTPC Green Energy has commissioned the first 300 MW tranche of its 500 MW Bhadla solar PV project in Rajasthan, taking its total installed capacity to 8,310.28 MW.

NTPC Green Energy has announced the commissioning of the first part capacity of 300 MW out of its 500 MW Bhadla solar PV project in Rajasthan.
“Consequent upon the issue of the certificate of commissioning by SECI and RRECL dated January 14, 2026, the first part capacity of 300 MW out of 500 MW Bhadla Solar PV Project located in Phalodi, Rajasthan, of NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, is declared on commercial operation w.e.f. January 13, 2026,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.
It further added that with the operationalisation of this part capacity, NTPC Green Energy’s total installed capacity has increased to 8,310.28 MW.
Last month, NTPC Group added approximately 404.68 MW of capacity across Rajasthan and Gujarat. While NTPC operationalised about 78 MW at its Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan, NTPC Renewable Energy commissioned 326.68 MW of part capacity of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat.
In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.
Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
