NTPC Green Energy Operationalises 130.47 MW Part Capacity at 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar Project

NTPC Green Energy has commissioned an incremental 130.47 MW of capacity at its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV project in Gujarat, taking the group’s total installed capacity to 8,478.25 MW.

NTPC Green Energy has announced the commissioning of 10th part capacity of 130.47 MW of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV project located in Gujarat.

“The tenth part capacity of 130.47 MW out of 1255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project located in Gujarat under CPSU scheme Phase-II Tranche-III of NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 hrs of January 29, 2026,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

With this addition, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group will increase to 8,478.25 MW, it said.

Earlier this month, NTPC Green Energy announced the commissioning of the first part capacity of 300 MW out of its 500 MW Bhadla solar PV project in Rajasthan.

Last month, NTPC Group added approximately 404.68 MW of capacity across Rajasthan and Gujarat. While NTPC operationalised about 78 MW at its Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan, NTPC Renewable Energy commissioned 326.68 MW of part capacity of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat.

In July 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making an investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.

Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond the earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
