NTPC Green Energy Invites Bids for 250 MW/1,000 MWh BESS Projects in Kerala

NTPC Green Energy has issued an EPC tender for setting up a 250 MW/1,000 MWh battery energy storage system project at Kayamkulam, Kerala. Bid submission ends on June 24, 2025.

NTPC Green Energy has floated an EPC tender for the development of 250 MW/1,000 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at NTPC Kayamkulam in Kerala.

The project is divided into two blocks. Block-1 having a capacity of 125 MW/500 MWh must be integrated at 33 kV existing solar pooling switchgear. Block-2 having capacity of 125 MW/500 MWh must be integrated at 220 kV switchyard.

The bidder must provide comprehensive operation and maintenance for 15 years.

The last date for submission of bids June 24, 2025 till 2:00 PM. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 2:30 PM.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, packaging and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, construction, erection, testing, commissioning of grid-connected BESS project on turnkey basis.

It also includes grid compliance study, reactive power compensations and power quality compliance for BESS system up to 400 KV/220 KV grid interconnection point at NTPC projects switchyard.

BESS must be provided in NFPA compliant standardised container with minimum DC capacity of 5 MWh per container.

Designed life of BESS system including that of battery must be of 15 years, considering daily single cycle operation, from the date of successful completion of trial run.
