NTPC Green Energy has floated an EPC tender for the development of 1,950 MW/7,800 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) capacity at NTPC Renewable Energy’s Bikaner Solar Plant in Rajasthan.

The project is divided into five blocks. Block-1, with a capacity of 500 MW/2,000 MWh, must be connected at Pooling Sub Station-1 (PSS-1) at the NTPC REL Bikaner Solar Plant in Rajasthan. Block-2 with a capacity of 550 MW/2,200 MWh must be connected at PSS-2. Three Blocks, each with a capacity of 300 MW/1,200 MWh, must be connected at PSS-3. Each BESS Block shall be connected at the 33 kV Level of the designated Solar Plants.

The last date for submission of bids is June 25, 2026 till 3:00 PM. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation and commissioning of grid-connected BESS on a turnkey basis.

Design life of the BESS system, including that of the battery, shall be of 25 years (with degraded capacity as per the bidder’s proposal, considering daily single cycle operation) from the date of commissioning. Batteries offered must be rated for a minimum of 10,000 cycles of operation.

The bidders must also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) for a period of 15 years.

Bidder will guarantee a minimum of 92 percent of dispatchable capacity at POI across all 15 years, starting with 100 percent of rated dispatchable capacity at CoD and 95 percent for the first year. Dispatchable capacity at the time of handover must be a minimum of 92 percent.

Minimum monthly Round Trip Efficiency (RTE) must be 80 percent including auxiliary consumption. Annual availability must be maintained at 98 percent.
