NTPC Green Energy Commissions 49 MW Part Capacity at 300 MW Khavda Solar Project

NTPC Green Energy’s subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy has commissioned a third part capacity of 49.125 MW from its 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project in Gujarat, further advancing its renewable expansion under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project.

NTPC Green Energy has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy has commissioned the third part capacity of 49.125 MW of its 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project in Gujarat.

“Consequent upon successful commissioning, third part capacity of 49.125 MW out of 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project at Khavda, Bhuj, Gujarat of NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. under 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of August 22, 2025,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

It further added that the first part capacity of 142.2 MW and second part capacity of 32.8 MW has already been declared on commercial operation in June 2025.

Earlier this week, the company announced COD of the fourth part capacity of 212.5 MW out of 1255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat and a part capacity of 52.8 MW (Wind) by a group company of NTPC Green Energy.

With these, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC group will become 83,291 MW.

Recently, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) granted enhanced delegation of power to NTPC from the extant guidelines of delegation of power to Maharatna CPSEs for making investment in its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy.

Subsequently, NGEL will be investing in NTPC REL and its other JVs/ subsidiaries beyond earlier approved prescribed limit of INR 7,500 crore up to an amount of INR 20,000 crore for renewable energy (RE) capacity addition to achieve 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.
